Equipment Description

The Scorpio 38’ crane is designed for smooth, silent, and efficient camera movements, even at full extension. The Scorpio 38’ is the natural evolution of the Scorpio 30’ + 7’. With 4 telescopic sections, this crane allows up to 154 pounds maximum payload keeping a perfect rigidity in its maximum extension and lens height of 40’ overslung (36’ underslung) without sacrificing function or performance. The crane can extend and retract as fast as 8.6 feet per second within a 30’7” telescopic range .

At its minimal configuration, the chassis is only 3’9” wide (4’11” leveling jack footprint) by 5’11” long, and can dolly on 2’ track. The chassis width can be adjusted out to a maximum 5’ wide (6’2” leveling jack footprint) to dolly on 3’3” track. The minimum door clearance is 6’11”.

The Scorpio series of cranes are capable of repeatable arm-articulation, programmable limits for telescopic movement, camera tracking system integration for realtime virtual studio and augmented reality, dampening, and compensation on arc movement in both the horizontal and vertical axis. The Scorpio 38 contains the perfect combination of telescopic travel, speed, length, and chassis size that create dynamic imagery with less effort and space requirements. Integrate it with the Scorpio head for additional functionalities such as backpan compensation, targeting, and pre-programmed remote head position points according to the crane movements and position.
